In general gear oils may be
blended in batch lots or by continuous automatic bending. Batch bending
will entail the least
investment in equipment
but will use
up the greatest
space. Where a variety
of small lots of gear
oils are to be mixed, batch
bending is most economical. Also batch vessels can be used for
storage and thus packaging be done at leisure.
Continuous automatic bending lends
itself to large production of gear oils synchronized with automatic packaging,
conveying, and storage or loading of filled containers.
